Are there words to describe the power the sea has over humans? How can one list all the reasons it holds such a special allure for us? It is through the magic of the brush and pallet that we can experience all this!
The sea in Pavel Mitkov's paintings is a miracle in its own right. Waves seem to be conversing with each other and anxiously jostling to reach the golden sand. Quiet at times, rough at others, they are always brimming with verve and vitality and one can almost see them move and hear them sing their marvellous tune.
A true artist understands and can interpret the language of the sea.

The painting depicts rose Damascena (oil-bearing rose) on a Koprivshtica landscape. The main elements in the painting are symbols of Bulgaria that carry a massive energy load. These elements are the three oil-bearing roses and the typical Bulgarian architecture from the national revival period. The canvas has been created in an impressionistic style, combined with innovative techniques. When creating the painting the author used little golden, and silver sheets, and dust which bring in additional balance, and harmony in the composition of the painting. That turns this canvas into an exceptionally unique piece of art.
This is the reason why this particular painting has been included in the new catalogue of Pavel Mitkov and the new painting collection of the artist – “Zen – Asia inspiration”. Nevertheless the author chose depicting a Bulgarian landscape, the Japanese influence and Asian sensation of the canvas can be felt.
The fact that the Bulgarian rose is so popular in Japan, and that Koprivshtica is among the 10 most famous destinations in Europe, according to Japanese tourist sites, has important impact, on the painting, as well.
You can find a signature of the author in the lower right corner, together with the year of the painting creation – 2018. In the lower left corner stands the name of the painting and a little rose. In the center of the painting there is a couple in love.
